Brazil Announces New Functionality Aimed at Reducing Errors by Importers, Regulations on Government Agency Participation in AEO Programme

In an effort to reduce the number of errors made by importers, a new functionality was recently unveiled in the on-line import licencing module (LI WEB) of Brazil’s Integrated Foreign Trade System (Siscomex). Effective immediately, specific fields have been created to provide certain information associated with import duty reduction or exemption requests, including information on the brand, model, serial number and manufacture year of the good to be imported.

Separately, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) has issued new regulations on the participation of government agencies with authority over trade matters in Brazil’s authorised economic operator programme. Such participation will take place through the OAE-Integrated complementary module, which will enable government agencies to issue security and conformity certificates to low-risk supply chain members.
