Argentina Requires Water Heaters to Comply with Energy Labelling Requirements by Year’s End

The Argentinean government has moved forward, to 31 December 2017, the effective date of the energy efficiency labelling requirements for automatic storage water heaters, although these requirements will enter into force on 1 January 2019 with respect to certain water heater models. Subject water heaters must be appropriately certified by an authorised body for compliance with the applicable labelling requirements.

The water heaters must be labelled in accordance with the provisions of Addendum 1/2016 to standard NAG 314/1995. The label must show the name of the producer or importer, brand, model, type of gas used by the water heater (natural or liquified), efficiency class of the water heater (A, B, C, D or E), nominal capacity in litres, maximum consumption in kilocalories per hour and average consumption under test conditions, as well as language showing the applicable standard (NAG 314) and indicating that the water heater is fuelled by gas. Among other things, the required information must be shown in legible characters and the label must be adhered to the external part of the heater so that it is clearly visible.
