Argentina Implements Energy Efficiency Labelling Requirements for Water Heaters

Argentinean authorities recently implemented the energy efficiency labelling requirements of Resolution 319/1999 with respect to electric accumulative water heaters for household use, with the exception of heat pump equipment. Effective 90 days from the date of issuance in Argentina’s official journal of a notice of recognition of at least two test laboratories, importers and domestic producers of subject water heaters will be required to certify their products for compliance with the energy efficiency requirements of standard IRAM 62410:2012 in accordance with certification System 5 (which is based on an evaluation of the manufacturer’s quality management system and the testing of samples taken from the production line).

Certified water heaters will be required to carry a self-adhesive energy efficiency label on the upper section of the external front panel in easily legible characters. The label must comply with certain characteristics and must include on its lower part the logo or mark of the recognised certification body, the certificate number and the text “Res. ex-S.I.C. y M. No 319/99”.
