Argentina Bans Imports of Blank Guns
Argentina has banned with immediate effect the production, importation and sale of blank firearms, which are defined as replica firearms that are similar in morphology and operation to regular firearms and generate a visual and sound effect by means of the deflagration of gunpowder gases as a result of the percussion of cartridges loaded with controlled materials (e.g., starter caps or primers and gunpower). Specifically excluded from this prohibition are blank firearms used by a duly authorised entity for special effects purposes.
Argentinean authorities have clarified that artefacts that fire projectiles through the use of air or compressed gas powered by an electrical device, commonly known as airsoft markers or paintball markers, are not covered by this ban.
