Argentina Approves New Standards for Flexible Aluminium Tubes

Argentina has approved new quality and safety standards for flexible aluminium tubes that will require compliance with the provisions of standard IRAM 6768. In certain instances, subject merchandise may also be made in accordance with certain provisions of standard uneen 570. Subject merchandise must also be labelled with any information required by IRAM 6768 as well as the name and/or brand of the producer and/or importer, the country of origin, and a safety seal issued in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Importers and domestic producers of subject merchandise must submit proof beginning on 10 January 2019 that the conformity assessment process has been initiated. Effective from 13 September 2019, importers and domestic producers will be required to submit a copy of the certificate issued by a recognised certification body.

Subject merchandise must undergo conformity assessment in accordance with (i) certification System 4, which is based on type testing and checking of samples taken from the market and/or the production site; (ii) certification System 5, which is based on an evaluation of the manufacturer’s quality management system and the testing of samples taken from the production line; or (iii) certification System 7, which requires every imported lot to be tested to ensure regulatory compliance.
