Climate

Extreme aridity prevails over the northern part of the country, while the climate of the southern region is cool and rainy the year round. The central region has a Mediterranean climate, characterised by cool and rainy winters. The average temperatures for the hottest (January) and coldest (July) months at Santiago are 20°C and 8°C, respectively.
