PHILIPPINES: New Single Window Customs Service to Integrate with Intra-ASEAN Clearance System

The Philippines’ newly introduced one-stop online trade portal, TradeNet, is now set to also serve as the country’s National Single Window (NSW) system for greater trade facilitation purposes.

TradeNet, a single window service originally designed to allow expedited online processing of import and export permits, will now also be used to streamline overall customs procedures, improve revenue collection and facilitate intra-ASEAN trade. To this end, TradeNet will be fully integrated with the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) data sharing system by December 2017.

The ASW, a regional initiative for greater economic integration, allows for expedited cargo clearance, and electronic exchange of data and import/export documentation between five currently participating countries - Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Ultimately, the ASW system is designed to be adopted by all members of the ASEAN bloc.
