PHILIPPINES: New Portal Offers Online Business Verification and Streamlined Registration

The recent launch of the publicly-accessible Philippines Business Data Bank (PBDB), an online register of the country’s formally-established businesses, allows an instant authentication – or not – of any domestic business entity. The PBDB also streamlines the business permit application / renewal system through online submissions of all required business registration documentation, hence removing the need to manually present such items to multiple government departments.

Initially, only businesses registered within Quezon City, part of the Metro Manila region, will be covered by the PBDB database. Ultimately, however, its remit will be extended across the country to include every registered business, including those operating within one of the Philippines’ growing number of Special Economic Zones.
