PHILIPPINES: Import Permit Processing Time Set to Be Slashed by Online Approval System

The processing time for import/export permits in the Philippines is set to be cut from several months to just a few days when TradeNet, the country’s new one-stop online trade portal, goes live in December 2017.

A single window service, the TradeNet system will allow importers to submit all applications online and removes the current obligation to physically secure approval from up to 66 different government agencies. Under the new system, once an online application has been approved by any one government agency, approval by any remaining departments is mandatory.

Although no formal schedule has been announced, the TradeNet system will ultimately be extended into the processing of export permits.
